Doctoral Student (Co-mentored with Toner Lab)

Adriana Payan-Medina

Adriana is a PhD student and NSF GRFP fellow in the Health Sciences and Technology (HST) program at Harvard and MIT. She earned her B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Utah, where she conducted medical informatics research. During her undergraduate studies, Adriana used machine learning to understand exposure and health outcome relationships, developed an atom tracing module, and performed scRNA-seq analysis for autoimmune diseases. Building on this computational background, she now aims to advance microfluidic devices for tumor cell analysis and enhance computational approaches within the field. Beyond her research, she enjoys yoga and biking.

Research Technician

Quinn Cunneely

Quinn joined CEMS in 2023 after receiving his BS in Microbiology from the University of Alabama. Quinn utilizes novel microfluidic technologies to understand how cancer responds to targeted therapies. His undergraduate research work included CRISPR-based bacterial defense systems and the nature of environmental microbial metabolites and their role in neurodegenerative diseases. Outside of the lab, he is an avid runner and cyclist and loves to cook with friends and family.

Research Technician

Remy Bell

Remy completed his BS in Biomedical Engineering at the University of South Carolina. Remy has previously worked on organ-on-a-chip devices and electrochemical biosensors. At CEMS, he will be advancing microfluidic cellular technologies for applications in cancer diagnostics, immunotherapy monitoring, and cell and gene therapy manufacturing. In his free time, Remy enjoys reading, attending orchestral concerts, learning how to cook, and planning vacations he doesn’t intend to go on.
