Taught an undergraduate fluid mechanics (ME309) class of 65 students as an instructor at School of Mechanical Engineering, Purdue University (West Lafayette): Fall 2015

 

  • Awarded The Ward A. Lambert Graduate Teaching Fellowship to be an instructor for the Fluid Mechanics course (4
    Credit Hours)
    . This fellowship is awarded to two graduate students yearly, allowing them to teach a full class as an instructor in the School of Mechanical Engineering.

 

  • Tasks included teaching three lectures per week and a total of 42-course lectures over the semester

 

  • Designed homework problems, exams, and reading assignments.

 

  • Received a teaching evaluation score of 4.8 on a scale of 5.0 in the anonymous course evaluation conducted by Purdue University.

  •  

  • For my teaching efforts, I was awarded the Teaching Academy Graduate Teaching Award by the Purdue Teaching Academy and the Office of the Provost at Purdue University. This award is given to one recipient out of 50 graduate teaching assistants for outstanding instructional contributions.

Lead Graduate Teaching Assistant

 

Undergraduate Fluid Mechanics (ME309) at School of Mechanical Engineering, Purdue University (West Lafayette): Spring 2013 – Spring 2015 (2.5 years)

 

  • Led teams of more than 10 graduate student TAs over various semesters

  • Managed the lab instruction of >550 undergraduate students each year.

 

  • Managed lab and tutoring component: tasks included teaching TAs about labs, preparing experimental setups for each lab, lab recitations, grading reports, quizzes, and exams, and tutoring.

 

  • Designed two new Particle Image Velocimetry labs for undergraduate students

  1. Laminar boundary layer investigation over a flat plate using Particle Image Velocimetry

  2. Wake survey using Particle Image Velocimetry for drag force measurement 

  • For my teaching contributions, I was awarded the Estus H. and Vashti L. Magoon Award for Excellence in Teaching by the College of Engineering at Purdue University.
